DOWNIE, John David - Age 65, of Brighton, formerly of Flint, passed away July 4, 2021. Funeral Services will be held 11AM Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place 4PM-8PM Wednesday and 10AM until the time of service on Thursday. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
John was born July 18, 1955 in Alpena, the son of John Richard and Clara Marie (Sobczak) Downie. John graduated from Ainsworth High School. He served in the US Army following his graduation. John was a very outgoing person and made friends easily throughout his life. He overcame many challenges with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He fought the good fight, and he has finished the race.
John is survived by: his siblings, Linda Hinkley, Joanne (Milton) Keene, Robert (Brenda) Downie, and Stephania (Doug) Cousin, Gerald (Sherri) Downie; he was a fun loving, beloved uncle and great uncle. The family expresses a special thank you to Gilda and Rosie, the loving staff and extended family at Valley View of Brighton and Willowbrook of Brighton.
