HAMMOND, Deborah Ann– of Goodrich, MI, age 75, passed away on November 23, 2025. Family will hold a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries.

Deborah was born in Detroit, MI on August 25, 1950, the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Underwood) Crick, and was raised in Inkster, MI with her younger sisters, Denise and Darlene.

Although Deb claimed well into her sixties that she still didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grew up, she found her calling early.

Family, friends, and countless others know she was perpetually kind and caring and, after earning an MSW from Wayne State University, she spent her career helping those in need, as a social worker in the Flint area.

She cut her teeth in the neo-natal unit at St. Joseph Hospital before moving briefly to Martin Elementary, then working at Atherton Elementary and Middle Schools for nearly twenty years before retiring. She did all this while schlepping her three headstrong boys to ballgame after ballgame with her first husband, instilling her trademark empathy, her humor, and love for education and sports.

Debby’s sweetness was always genuine, never saccharine, and she had the toughness to back it up. She was known to have the most fun-loving, bubbly personality, and loved to dance (preferably to Motown).

It was through dance dates that she fell for her beloved husband, Gary Hammond. They met in 1999, after Gary’s kids were grown and Deb’s were well on their way. They married August 30, 2003, and spent the next twenty-two years serving as the yin to each other’s yang, splitting time between Michigan and Venice, Florida as they welcomed, loved, and cared for their grandchildren. Deb is and forever will be loved to the moon and back and missed terribly.

Deborah is survived by husband, Gary; children; Matthew Kachman, Kevin (Carly) Kachman and Joshua (Shannon) Kachman; grandchildren, Brendan, Ava, John “Rocco” and Alina; sister, Dar (John) Oeftering; brother-in-law, Mike Mrazek; nephew, Jason (Rebecca) Mrazek; nieces, Caitlyn (Scott) Urquhart and Morgan Hubbard; Harley (Brandy) Camps, Ryan (Jen) Camps, Lindsay (Kory) Leppek, Marissa (Bill) Lerner, Jordan (Marie) Camps, Emily (Ben) Knowles, and Brad Camps; Trevor Wojtas, Tristan Wojtas, Caitrin (Frank) Franzik Wojtas and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by mother Eleanor; father George; and sister, Denise Mrazek.
