LUKETICH, James M. “Ponch”- Of Linden, age 72, died Thursday, April 21, 2022 at his residence with his family present.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Father Don Davidson officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service with burial of cremains at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMI of Genesee County.
Visitation 12pm Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
James was born in Flint, Michigan on October 26, 1949, the son of James and Helen(Gadany) Luketich. Ponch graduated from Flint Northern High School and Mott Community College (Applied Science). On July 9, 1977, he married Gale Lynn Wright at Christ Episcopal Church in Flint. He was a skilled tradesman at Buick for 35 years. Ponch was a Veteran of the Viet Nam War and a recipient of the Bronze Star in recognition of his heroism. Jim loved sports, especially the Detroit teams, The Red Wings and Detroit Lions. His biggest passion was the 60’s muscle cars and Buick Gran Sport. He especially enjoyed going to classic car shows. He proudly drove his ’65 Skylark convertible on sunny days. Jim was also a talented woodworker and could re-create any request from a drawing or a picture. His family will especially miss his love, and enormous hugs.
Surviving are wife of 33 years, Gale;
children, Arick Luketich, and Julie (Jason) Taylor;
grandchildren, Liliana and Theodore Taylor;
mother, Helen Luketich;
siblings, Rose Hall, Ilonka Geisenhaver, Tony Luketich, Steve Luketich, Lydia Yaklin, and Andrea Green;
13 nieces and nephews; and grand-dog, Vala.
He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Luketich.
