JOUBRAN, (SUAD) SUE – Passed peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the age of 86 at her home in Escondido, California, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Thomas Manney officiating.
Visitation 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home, followed by burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery next to her husband.
Sue was born in Ramla, Palestine on November 15, 1939. Fourth in a family of eleven, she immigrated to Flint, Michigan, as a nurse in 1965, where she met and married her husband, Ibrahim (Brian) Joubran.
She continued to work as a nurse as she and her husband saved to purchase and run their first grocery store in Ortonville, Michigan. They both raised five children together until her husband’s tragic passing in 1985, upon which she retired and relocated her family to San Diego in 1989.
Sue was a dynamic and smart business minded woman, having navigated her way through difficult and challenging times as a single immigrant woman raising five children.
She is survived by her five children, John, Paul, Mark, CarolSue and Brian;
as well as her seven grandchildren, Anthony, Jackie, Jiselle, Jenevieve, Ibrahim, Benjamin and Zachary Haas.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Joubran.
