Pettigrew, Marie (Wilson), 88, Flint Township, passed Wednesday, October 28th, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. Marie was born August 10, 1932 in Pinconning, Michigan to Eldred and Helen Wilson. She married Harry on June 14, 1952, and he survives her. Marie and Harry shared a life together raising their family and owning several small businesses, including The Valley Pub, Ivor’s Place, and Rube’s Bar. She worked at H & R Block for 25 years. Marie and Harry enjoyed traveling and their favorite destination was Las Vegas. Marie loved gardening and her flowers bloomed throughout the summer months. Her greatest love was her family and she made every occasion extra special. Marie and Harry owned a cottage on Runyan Lake in Fenton and it became the gathering place for family members throughout the years, making memories, sharing many laughs, and enjoying her delicious ribs and steaks.
Marie’s purpose in life was to be a loving mother and wife and it showed in everything she did. She always saw the best in everyone and put family first, her values being shared by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved daughters: Gayle (Dan) Russ and Lori (Mike) Ballance. The joy of her life was her grandchildren, Daniel (Kate) Russ, Adam Russ, Chad (Jess) Powell, Brianna Slavens and her great granddaughter, Faith, who enjoys grandma’s love of crystal. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janice Powell, with whom she shared her love of roses. She was also preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. Due to COVID-19, there will be a private memorial service. A heartfelt thank you to McLaren Hospice, especially her nurse Jaina, who was an incredible source of comfort to her and the family. Donations can be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in her honor.
