ARNES, Joseph A., Age 61, passed away October 9, 2022 at Ascension Genesys Hospital surrounded by family. Joe was born on June 5, 1961, the son of Wilfred James and Rosalie (Baksa) Arnes. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and sports of all kinds. He was also our go-to guy for any trivia questions regarding sports and classic rock. He was proud to have coached various teams for each of his children and was always their biggest fan.
Joe earned degrees from Holy Rosary, GMI, and Ferris State College, leading to a successful career in the automotive industry including positions at AC, Delphi, Nexteer and GKN Driveline. In addition to his professional career, Joe was an undercover parrothead, gin and tonic connoisseur and the master of packing a car as if it was a life-size game of Tetris.
In euchre, Joe could go alone with a jack and a nine and win, and in life, he always played the hand he was dealt cheerfully and with confidence and panache. While ALS may have won in the end, Joe lived life to its fullest and had belief in his eternal reward. He shared smiles and laughs with the ones he loved until the very end, enjoying every minute he had left with friends and family.
A visitation will take place Wednesday, October 12 from 5-8pm at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 13 at 10am at Holy Family Church, 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI. Father Leronio Vodivodi officiating.
Joe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Peggy, son Daniel (Chrissy) Arnes, daughters Kelly (Charlie) Mackinnon and Megan (Colton) Arnes; cherished grandchildren Madelyn, Cassie, Jaxon, Weston and Joey; father Jim Arnes, brothers Brian (Tammy), Tom (Annie), Brad (Cheryl) and sister, Jennifer; parents-in-law Norm and Carolyn Fulton, sisters and brothers-in-law Katie and Jim Foulds, Beth Fulton and Matt and Dawn Fulton.
