MAPLES, Sarah E. - Of Burton, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Nathan’s Place in Flint.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home 1225, West Hill Road, Flint. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7th and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday until the time of service.
Sarah was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on May 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Harroll and Ethel (Dixon) Layne. On June 20, 1959, she married Thomas Joseph Maples and they celebrated 59 years together until he preceded her in death in 2018. Sarah was employed for 68 years with Bob Harvey and McCredie Insurance Agencies. She loved antiques and enjoyed going to thrift shops and garage sales.
Surviving are
Son’s, Craig Maples, Tod Maples, Scot Maples and Robby Maples;
grandchildren, Lindsey (Jonathan) Scott, Shelby Maples and Brandon Maples;
great-grandchildren, Brodie, Briar and Myles;
sisters, Wilma Layne of Fort Myers, Carol Thomas of Burton and Martha Layne of Burton;
brother, MacArthur (Judy) Layne of Goodrich;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harroll and Ethel Layne and husband, Thomas Maples.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to nurse, and family friend, Diane Nims for her extraordinary care.
