HOWELL, GERALDINE D. “JERRI” – Of Flint, age 91, died Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Wellbridge of Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Chad Amoss officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Flint First Wesleyan Church.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 and 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 until the time of the service at 12 p.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Geraldine was born in Eskdale, West Virginia, Kanawha County on May 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Ruth K. Harlow.
In 1955 Jerri and Weed “Dee” moved to Flint, Michigan and raised their family and made Flint their home, the rest of their lives, 60+ years.
Jerri was a stay at home mom and volunteered for her kids school activities.
Jerri worked on the Flint Election Board for 40 years and worked at the post at Cody School. She spent 27 years in the City of Flint Planning Commission and was very active in the neighborhood and City of Flint government.
She was a member of Flint First Wesleyan Church and was active in the church.
Surviving are daughter, Karen (Adam) Markuszewski;
son, John David (Cindy) Howell;
grandchildren, Adam (Michelle), Amy (Pat), DeAnna (Chris) and Andy;
9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Weed; sisters, Jacki and Georgi; mother, Ruth and grandmother Harlow.
