MEAGHER (LAVALLE), Lorraine – Of Flint, age 100, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022
at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street in Flint,
Father Anthony Strouse and Father Tom Firestone officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North End Soup Kitchen.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Meagher will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
Lorraine was born in Flint, Michigan on September 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Alfred and Georgina (Courhesne) Lavalle.
Lorraine Graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School and Baker Secretarial College.
She married Leo Meagher on August 23, 1947 in Flint and he preceded her in death.
While raising four children, she was member of St. Joseph Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Bishop Sewing, Flint Clothing Bank and the Pierce Senior Citizen Travel Club.
She and Leo traveled all over the world with the travel club.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Christine (Donald) Owen,
Gregory (Karen) Meagher,
Michael (Cathy) Meagher and
Kathleen (Harvey) Fridline;
grandchildren, Kelly (Robert) Irwin, Lisa (Michael) Martin, Meredith Fridline, Garrett (Kelly) Fridline, Dr. Roman (Samantha Thoms) Fridline and Patrick Meagher;
great-grandchildren, Wyatt Irwin, Dylan Irwin, Eli Martin, Lauren Martin, Leo Fridline and Isabell Fridline;
special friends, Penny and John Carrico; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo and brother, Wilfred.
