Leonard Kenneth Weiland, 69, of Hillman, passed away at his residence on October 10, 2010. He was born on August 4, 1941 to Arthur and Ida (Cordes) Weiland in Montmorency Twp, MI. He has lived in Hillman for the past 12 yrs. He worked for Ford Motor Co for 9 yrs in Detroit, then did roofing and siding installation for Hartford Roofing and Siding in Pontiac for 15 yrs. He also spent a few years in the National Guard. Leonard farmed here in Hillman and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was an avid fisherman and liked to take trips to fish in different lakes all over.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Zella; daughter, Sherrie Weiland of Dansville, MI; grandchildren, Amanda and David; and sister Anita Poppenfuse of Otisville, MI.
Funeral services for Mr. Weiland will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 12:00 PM at St Johns Lutheran Church in Hillman, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will take place at Christian Memorial Gardens in Rochester Hills, MI. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John's Lutheran School or Hospice of MI, Alpena.
