COSTELLO, Joy Lynn – of Flint, age 63, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held at 3PM Friday, November 19, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Mike Kern officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 12PM until the time of service at 3PM.
Joy was born March 22, 1958, in Flint, Michigan to the late Terry and Ila (Habbershaw) Bertt. She grew up in Mt. Morris and spent most of her life in Florida. Joy graduated from Elizabeth Ann Johnson High School in Mt. Morris in 1976, and later earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology from The University of Central Florida in 1989. She married Robert Costello on August 6, 1975, in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Costello is a U.S. Navy Veteran. Joy was an electronics technician for many years and guardian ad litem with the Bervard County Circuit Court. She also volunteered as a candy striper with hospitals in Florida. Joy loved spending time outdoors, enjoying the beach life, traveling and road trips. She enjoyed listening to music, traveling and road trips. Above all, Joy was a wonderful mother and beautiful sister. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Husband, Robert Costello; Son, Alex Costello; Sisters: Janet (Russ) Hamilton, Terri Bertt, and Barb (Tony) Gilbert; Brother, Tom Bertt; Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
