BLACK, Byron D. – of Clio, age 86, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1PM until 8PM and on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Byron was born September 22, 1927 in Birch Run, Michigan to the late Byron and Ula (Bowns) Black. He married Orthella Sather on November 22, 1947 in Birch Run. They enjoyed 66 years together. Byron served in the U.S. Navy for 2 years during WWII. Mr. Black retired from Chevrolet MFG in June of 1976 with 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW local # 659. Byron was a member of the American Legion in Clio and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, guns, watching TV and old war movies.
Surviving are: wife, Orthella Black of Clio; son, Brian (Janette) Black of Clio; granddaughter, Melissa Black of Clio.
