Maureen Finn, of Flushing, age 84, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2022, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
Maureen was born on June 13, 1937, the daughter of Theodore and Irma (Watson) Balwinski. She married John Finn on June 11, 1966, at Holy Trinity Church in Bay City. Maureen provided an in-home day care for many children for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church. Maureen was famous for her cooking and baking, especially her pies and cookies. She loved birdwatching, was an avid shopper and enjoyed spending time in the sun near a pool or the beach. Maureen’s greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and the many children she helped raise through her daycare.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John; children, Kathleen and husband Jim Pattison, John Finn, Robert Finn; grandchildren, Emily, Kelsey, Jack, Ethan, Elayna, Landon; sister and best friend, Susan Cavanaugh; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Munley, Chris Pylypowycz; Brother Lawrence Finn “Clancy”, nieces and nephews, Ann and husband Ed Senk, Thomas and wife Linda Balwinski, Michael Wilinksi, Michael and wife Sue Cavanaugh, Scott Cavanaugh, Brian Cavanaugh, Jason Cavanaugh, Katie Finn; and many other cousins and extended family and friends. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Theodore Balwinski, Robert and wife Vera Balwinski; brothers-in-law, Terrance Cavanaugh, Don Finn; niece, Mary Wilinksi; nephew, Daniel Finn; cousin, James “Tom” Finn. |
