WERNER, Walter, – of Davison, Michigan, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Ascension-Genesys in Grand Blanc. Cremation has taken place. There will not be any services at this time.
Walter Werner was born in Pfuhl, Germany on March 13, 1931. He immigrated to the USA in 1953, and lived in Ohio. He was employed at the National Cash Register Company until he was drafted into the US Army. Walter served as an interpreter in Seoul South Korea, where he met his first wife, Ingrid Rahning, who was serving in Korea as a nurse. While in Korea, he was made a US nationalized citizen.
Walter and Ingrid married after their tours of duty, and together they had two sons, Thomas and Eric. Walter earned his CPA license, and held many positions in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Michigan, and Ohio. They lived in Frankenmuth for many years, and their sons went to Frankenmuth Schools. For several years, Walter was Vice President of Finance at Beckum America in Williamston, Michigan.
Walter made friends easily. He never knew a stranger. Walter had the gift of gab, and loved to tell stories from his life growing up in Germany.
Ingrid passed away several years ago, and Walter then met and married Nancy Bailey in 2012. They lived in Lansing until two years ago, moving to Davison, Michigan. Walter and Nancy were grateful to find each other, and to fall in love late in their lives.
Mourning the loss are his sons, Thomas (Barbara) Werner, Dr. Eric (Dr. Kathy Kozak) Werner; grandsons, Jacob, Lucas, and Daniel; wife, Nancy; stepchildren, Belinda Blough, Michael Bailey, and Lisa Haynes; special friends, Lynne and Ted VanDeventer.
