KING, Louis “Sonny” James, Jr. – of Flint, MI, age 91, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Entombment immediately following the Mass in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3-7:30 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7:30 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Louis’s memory.
Louis was born in Saganing, Standish Township, MI on November 15, 1930, son of the late Louis and Blanche (White) King, Sr. He married Marie Shannon on January 20, 1951 in Standish, MI. Louis retired from General Motors-Buick on May 1, 1988 after 38 years of service. He was a founding member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 68 years. Louis was an avid motorcyclist, member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (G.W.R.R.A.). He also enjoyed hunting, traveling, spending time outdoors and he was a gifted carpenter and welding hobbyist.
Louis is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marie King; 8 children, David King, Douglas (Terri) King, Deborah (Larry) Hawley, Dean (Pansy) King, Dennis (Carrie) King, Drew (Deborah) King, Daniel (Mary) King and John King; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Gloria Rosiek, Alice Greszczuk and Judy Greniuk; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Blanche King, Sr.; son, Darwin A. King, Sr.; granddaughter, Jene’ VanDeWater; great-grandson, Gage Spiece; step-granddaughter, Jill Hawley; step-grandson, Daren Hawley; 8 siblings, Mary Ann Barrett, Mose King, Elaine Compeau, Genevieve Pike, Theresa Moore, Celia Balarski, Roger King and Eugene King.
