SMITH, Loren C. – of Clio, age 76, died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in West Vienna Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7PM until 9PM, and on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 1PM.
Loren was born May 4, 1945, in Flint, Michigan to the late Herbert and Ann (Stadelmen) Smith. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1965 and later attended business classes at Mott Community College. Mr. Smith is a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran. Loren married Patricia A. Smith on October 23, 1982, in Flushing. She preceded him in death November 2, 2013. He owned and operated L.C. Smith Sign Company and was a sign fabricator for 50 years before retiring in 2013. Loren was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 4087, Disabled American Veterans, and the NRA. He was a member of the National Turkey Federation, Gun Owners of America, and past member of the Clio Chamber of Commerce. Loren also belonged to several historical societies during his life and was very proud of his exceptional volunteer work at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, traveling, yardwork, photography, and riding his motorcycle. Loren also enjoyed learning about local and civil war history. He was an extremely talented artist and was skilled in sand blasting glass pictures, wood crafts, drawing and painting.
Surviving are: Daughter, Vickie A. (David A.) Smith; Granddaughter, Venessa M. Udell; Brother, Kenneth (Mae) Smith; Many loving extended family members: Dena (Chris) Boyle, David Schmieder and his wife, and all their children.
