BRUNER, Philip – of Flushing, age 91, rode off to “give heaven some hell” Friday, January 20, 2023, at his residence. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the FFA Alumni C/O Joe Gasper - 12520 Ferden Rd. Oakley, Michigan 48649.
Philip was born December 10, 1931, in Owosso, to the late Philip S. Bruner and Lois (Fair) Bruner. He was raised on Main Street in Flushing, but city life proved too much, and he spent much of his teenage years on his mother’s family farm in Juddville. He attended Flushing High School where he received his high school diploma with the class of 1949. After graduation, he began working for Buick where he later retired in 1986. Philip proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and married Nancy Lee Jensen on October 22, 1955. He and his wife lived on the family farm in Flushing for 60 years. Philip enjoyed raising beef cows, trapping, hunting, and fishing between Flushing and Hubbard Lakes. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Philip’s wonderful caregiver, Vickie, his neighbors, and the many friends that assisted Philip during his final days.
Philip is forever loved by his children: Diane (Jeff) and Rick; Grandchildren: Leanne Kay Pratt, Gregg (Faith) Pratt, Michael (Alicia) Bruner, Matthew (Sarah) Bruner; Great Grandchildren: Eliza and Dean; Sister-in-law, Eleanor Lockhart; Many nieces, one nephew, extended family, and wonderful friends. Philip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Bruner; Parents; Sister, Sue; Generations of relatives and many hunting buddies. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
