Phyllis was born on July 24, 1932, in Tuscola, Michigan, to the late Philip and Neva (McCrumb) Kelly. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1950. Phyllis married Ralph C. Bard on November 11, 2006, at Bethany United Methodist Church, and after many happy years, Ralph preceded her in death on February 12, 2016. Throughout her professional life, Phyllis worked at AC Spark Plug for ten years where she always said she put the "spark" in spark plugs. She also dedicated nine years of her career as a ParaPro for Clio Schools, positively impacting the lives of countless students before retiring in 2006. Additionally, she lent her talents to Neelands Hardware in Clio. Phyllis was a devoted member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served as a trustee and actively participated in the Esther Circle, and many others. Her dedication to the community extended beyond the church walls, as she was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star Vienna Chapter #283. With a mischievous twinkle in her eyes, her comical nature brought laughter to all. She had a great sense of humor, and always loved a good joke. Phyllis found immense joy in simple pleasures. Playing cards with her beloved card clubs, engaging in activities at the Clio Senior Center, trips to the casino, creating beautiful jewelry, and reading a good book. Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and will be greatly missed.
