Henneke, Edward George of Flushing, age 82, passed away, Friday, February 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022, at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 711 S. Saginaw St. Flint. Rev. Donald Davidson will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of the service.
Ed was born in Flint, Michigan on January 28, 1940, the son of Edward and Anna (Keilhorn) Henneke. Ed received his Associates Degree from Mott College and then his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1962. He went to law school at the University of Michigan and received his Juris Doctor in 1965. He was a member of the Michigan State Bar Association and the Genesee County Bar Association, where he received many awards and recognitions. Ed practiced law for over 55 years and was a founder of his law firm that includes his son, grandson and granddaughter in law.
He was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Flushing and current member of St. Paul Episcopal in Flint. Ed served as Chancellor of the Diocese of Eastern Michigan for 25 years.
Ed and his wife Donna created a "Brady Bunch" of their own, joining three sons and three daughters when they married in 1970. Ed is survived by Donna; children, Scott (Dana), Dawn (Karl), Shelley (Michael), Tracy, Charlene (Michael), Kurt (Tari); grandchildren, Brandon (Anne), Chelsea (Chris), Cole, Kiera, Christina, Michelle, Grayson; and great-granddaughter, Peri.
Ed enjoyed skiing, golf, photography, woodworking and especially his family. He was a true- blue Michigan Man and proud Alumni. Ed was the nicest person you would ever meet; he always had a smile and never met a stranger.
