Karen Anderson from Cocoa FL, passed away peacefully at Health First Cape Canaveral Hospital due to Covid-19, at the age of 68, on May 17, 2021. Karen fought a hard battle, but God lovingly said he had a different plan. Karen will be remembered by her Michigan family by her sister Cheryl Gelisse (Ron), nephew, Shawn Gelisse (Ashley), niece Nichole (Coley) Barkey-Rowlands (Tommie), along with her great-nephew, Emmett Gelisse and Baby Rowlands who is on the way.
Karen also leaves her Florida friends and family including St. Mary’s Catholic Church in which she was an Eucharistic Minister and sang in the church choir, plus her involvement in Girl Scouts of Brevard County, as Karen gave her all to Girl Scouts for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donn Anderson, her parents William & Donna (Gorzenski) Barkey and her brother Chris. Karen was born in Flint Michigan on December 13, and moved to Cocoa FL, in the early 1980’s. Karen was a Registered Nurse, with treating her home-care patients like family. A funeral service was held in Florida at St. Mary’s Catholic Church In Rockledge FL.
Karen will be remembered at a graveside ceremony, performed by Deacon Dennis Pennell (Holy Family Catholic Church) on July 24, 2021 at 11:00 am, at Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc MI. 48439.
In lieu of flowers, donations were made to the charity of their choice. Want to send out a special thank you to the Health First Cape Canaveral ICU nurses for always going the extra mile to take care of Karen and her family, during this most difficult time.
