Remembering Patricia Hawkins: A Journey of Love, Simple Joys, and Kindness

Patricia “Pat” Hawkins, whose life was a heartwarming testament to love, simplicity, and quiet kindness, peacefully completed her earthly journey. Pat, of Flint, age 68, died Saturday July 29th, 2023 at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer.

A funeral service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Ron Kenney officiating with memorial service at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice or the Humane Society of Genesee County.

Visitation 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pat was born on November 6th, 1954, the daughter of Mary (Chiszar) Andrew Macko. On July 6th, 1971, she married David “Dave” Hawkins and celebrated 38 years of marriage when Dave passed away in 2009.

Surviving are sons, Mark (Carrie) and Myke (Tonya);
two grandchildren, Alex and Ava; sisters Judy, Rose, and Mary Ann; brothers Andy, Larry, Tom, Rick; special friend, Jim and many other loved family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Barbara Horn.

Pat found joy in life's simple pleasures. Whether it was a peaceful afternoon spent fishing on a sun-dappled lake with her family, cheering on her favorite NASCAR driver, eagerly watching each inning of a Detroit Tigers game, or an evening of shared laughter and stories at the local pub, these were the moments that Pat treasured most.

Her story with her beloved husband, Dave, was a tribute to the power of enduring love. Born out of adversity, their bond withstood the test of time. Every year since Dave passed away, Pat would celebrate his birthday and their anniversary - a testament to their commitment to each other. She planted flowers for Dave at the cemetery every year.

Pat's fishing trips were more than just a hobby; they served as an opportunity for connection, a chance to create shared experiences and lasting bonds with her family. The same could be said for her evenings spent at the local pub and the many campfire gatherings she enjoyed over the years.

Pat loved her family deeply. Friends were cherished and considered an extension of that family. Much like her husband, Dave, Pat was known for never uttering a harsh word about anyone. Her primary aim in life was to love, to be loved, and to share that love.

As we bid goodbye to Patricia, we remember a life beautifully lived in its simplicity and a spirit that quietly radiated kindness. Patricia may have left our world, but she remains in our hearts, a gentle reminder of the beauty in everyday moments and the transformative influence of positivity.
