LaBrecque, Alfred F. “Moose” -of Grand Blanc Township, age 67, died Saturday, July 16th, 2022 at home with his loving wife at his side.
Cremation has taken place and a burial will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice.
Alfred was born in Flint, Michigan on May 11th, 1955, the son of Earl and Donna (Andrews) LaBrecque.
On April 24th, 1993 he married his wife of 30 years in Flint, Michigan.
Al worked in retail sales for many years before being diagnosed and beating cancer. Upon becoming blind Al persevered and taught himself the Braille Alphabet. He was quite surprised and excited when he was chosen “Braille Student of the Year” by the Hadley School for the Blind. This skill offered him the ability to become an avid reader and he enjoyed reading books by James Patterson and Stewart Woods. He read all the Harry Potter books in braille and enjoyed discussing them with his grandkids. He continued his education and learned the art of massage therapy, claiming to be “Mister Massage” himself. Al also bought cars, stripped and sold car parts on ebay, changed his own oil and utilized tools just like he did before. He was always listening to a baseball game and speaking of memories when he played as was young man.
He never let anything stop him and he overcame every obstacle while maintaining his sense of humor. He was an inspiration to so many.
Surviving are wife, Kim; children Alfred (Karen) LaBrecque, Jr. and Heather LaBrecque; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; little brother, Dean Duell and sister Linda Skeens.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Kroetsch; parents, Earl and Donna LaBrecque.
