BISSONNETTE, Dennis Grant – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held 12-4 PM Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Dennis’s memory.
Dennis was born in Flint, Michigan on September 14, 1942, son of the late Clifford and Barbara (Burton) Bissonnette. He graduated from Millington High School in 1960. Dennis went into the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and spent 3 years on the USS Fulton stationed in New London, Connecticut. He was very proud of being a veteran. Upon completion of his enlistment in the Navy, he worked and subsequently retired from Buick after more than 30 years of service. Dennis was a kind and generous man. Whether a long-time friend or a new acquaintance, he was quick to offer a lending hand. He knew no strangers as many people in the Davison community can attest to. In his younger days, Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman. However, in the last many years he enjoyed watching the wildlife in its natural habitat. Dennis would feed the animals that would show up in his yard, and maybe a neighborhood dog or cat or two. He had a quick wit and would joke with anyone that would listen. When you saw that twinkle in his eye and a half smile, you knew a joke was coming. In retirement, Dennis enjoyed frequenting the casino. This was partly to gamble, but mostly to socialize with other veterans or people that he knew. Family was very important to Denny, and he loved spending time with family and friends. He was, without a doubt, the life of every party.
Dennis is survived by his 2 daughters, Caprice Bissonnette and Teresa (Cliff) Lyden; 5 grandchildren, Brandi (Adnan) Elmahdawi, Elizabeth (Josh) Clapp, Nichole Bissonnette, Caleb (Danielle) Lyden and Paul (Olivia) Lyden; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah and Isabella Lehr, Hassan and Amina Elmahdawi; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Barbara Bissonnette; mother of his children, Carolyn Roy; 3 sons, Dennis Bissonnette, Jr, Scott Bissonnette and Heath Bissonnette; 5 siblings, Tony Bissonnette, Edie Menominee, Becky Bissonnette, Sue Galor and Tim Bissonnette.
