DAVIDSON, Richard F. “Dick” - Of Burton, age 82, died Friday, August 18, 2017 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Memorial Visitation 9:30 a.m. and Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Community of Christ Church, 2120 Wilmar Street, Burton, MI, his daughter, Elder Debora Cavin officiating.
Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery with Military Honors 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017.
Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Boy Scouts of America.
Richard was born in Bay Port, Michigan on February 27, 1935, the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Coan) Davidson. On September 10,1955, he married Sue Heaviland in Flint. He served his country in the U.S. Marines for 8 years. He was a Korean Conflict Combat Veteran and was with the Marine Reconnaissance Company of the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star for valor, Naval Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Naval Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, China Service Medal, Arm Forced Expeditionary Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, United Nations Korean Medal, Naval Scuba Diver Isignia, USMC Rifle Sharp Shooter and Marine Recon Army Rangers Medal. He ran a Boy Scout Camp for many years.
Mr. Davidson retired from the City of Flint as an acting Chief and worked for the City of Niles as Fire Chief for 10 years.
Surviving are wife, Sue;
children, Rick and wife Patty Davidson,
Debora Cavin,
David and wife Kim Davidson;
grandchildren, Tiffany Ross, Rachael (Joel) Tait, Paul (Cassie) Davidson, Ryan (Beth) Davidson, Steven (Amber) Davidson, Kevin (Kerrene) Davidson and Kristin Trevarrow;
great-grandchildren, Tori, Logan, Jovie, Laney, Hana, Katie, Richard, Chloe, Matthew, Cole, Avery, Asa, Holland and Taylor;
sisters, Susie and husband Al Griffore,
Jorene and husband George Duncan;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Best.
