Age 91, of Mt. Morris, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026. A private burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, Michigan. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on John’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
John was born on November 5, 1934, in Genesee Township, Michigan, the son of Howard and Lecy (Hartsell) Clontz. He married the love of his life, Juanita, on November 20, 1954, at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Together, they shared 71 years of marriage. He was employed as a manager with Westinghouse Electric Supply Company for 37 years before retiring in 1992. He and Juanita spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida, where they made many lifelong friends while enjoying shuffleboard, cards, golfing, and softball. John was well known for always having a toothpick in his mouth—and carrying extras just in case. He was an avid hunter and cherished time spent at deer camp with friends. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing the lottery, which he had notable luck with.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Juanita; his children, Larry (Jill) Clontz, LeeAnn Bloomfield, Lisa (Luis) Villarreal, Timothy (Dawn) Clontz, and Dale Clontz; his grandchildren, Greg (Kendra), Gabrielle (Matt), Christopher (Jaime), Cody, Bret, Mackenzie (Dylan), and Baylie; his great-grandchildren, Cruz, Brody, Levi, Caroline, Brady, Josephine, and Cameron; his sister, Virginia (Leon) Pifer; his sister-in-law, Jean Chargo; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lecy Clontz; his granddaughter, Mique Bloomfield; his siblings, Marie (Wink) King, Buck (Dorothy) Clontz, Betty (Omer) Apperly, Wayne (Ruby) Clontz, Robert (Beth) Clontz, and Barbara (Ray) Borchard.
John will be remembered for his quick wit, outgoing personality, and his deep love for family and friends. |
