SHAFER, Ruth Elizabeth – of South Lyon, MI, age 61, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Alan Conrow officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Davison Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 9:30-11 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home.
Ruth was born in Flint, MI on July 18, 1960, daughter of the late Bruce Leroy and Shirley Lorraine (York) Shafer. She was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1978. After graduation, Ruth earned an associate degree from Baker College. She retired from the State of Michigan after many years of service. Ruth was a member of South Lyon Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In her earlier years she was a member of Davison Free Methodist Church and then Green Oaks Free Methodist Church, Brighton. She was an avid rubber stamper for many years, going to many stamp retreats and club meetings. Ruth loved spending time with her niece, Noelle.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Rebecca Kennedy; brother-in-law, David Kennedy; niece, Noelle (Angus) McVeigh; many other loving family members, dear friends and especially her stamping club friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Shirley Shafer; and brother, Mark E. Shafer.
