SCHMIDT, Beverly J. (Bev), of Flint Township, age 89, went peacefully to the Lord's house, Sunday, May 1, 2022, in her home, just 10 hours before her 90th birthday. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Faith Missionary Church, 1327 Elms Road, Pastor Brent Kriesch officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Mrs. Schmidt will lie in state at Faith Missionary Church where friends may visit 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday and from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Saturday. Bev was born May 2, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of Grant and Margaret Steele. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1950. She married Preston Eugene Schmidt September 23, 1950. Preston and Bev shared 42 years of marriage, raising daughter Gena and son Mark, and building and operating the Pasadena Mobile Homes/Vineyard Village communities for some 20 years. He preceded her in death November 28, 1992. Bev was elected Flint Township Trustee in 1980, served many years as a member of the Township Planning Commission and had served on the Township Board of Appeals. She mentored many young people interested in public service. She was a faithful member of Faith Missionary Church for many years, and was very involved in the Community. Bev was a member of the Red Hat Society and of Montrose Chapter #351 Order of The Eastern Star. Bev loved her family dearly, especially her "kids," as she called her grandchildren and great grandchildren, to whom she was known as "Momo." She also loved her dog Mindy, who was her faithful companion for the last 11 years. She had a big sweet tooth, and you could often find her passing up dinner to enjoy her dessert. Beverly is survived by her daughter Gena (Dr. Mark) Neumann; grandchildren, Matthew (Janelle) Schmidt, Gary Schmidt, Adam Schmidt, Megan (William) Shickles, and Mitchell (Chelsea) Neumann; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kailee, Perry, Tabitha, Marvin, and Maven; great-great-grandchildren, Payton, Dayton, Everlee, and Zaydan. She was preceded in death by her husband Preston Schmidt, her son Mark Schmidt, brother, Harold Steele, and step-brothers, Robert Dann, and Joseph Dann. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Paster Brent and Val Kreisch, Tewana Grady of Valley Area Agency on Aging, Patricia Manzo of Meals on Wheels, McLaren Hospice, dear friend Pam Goodwin, and wonderful neighbor and friend Doramus (Ray) Kennedy.
