FILIPIAK, James J. Sr. - Age 78, of Durand, passed away February 16, 2023. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Outreach Food Pantry. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10AM until the time of service Tuesday at church. A committal service will be held 2PM Wednesday, Feburary 22, 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. James was born January 28, 1945 in Alpena, the son of Anthony and Gladys (Niedzwiecki) Filipiak. He was a veteran of the US Navy. James retired from General Motors, Metal Fab. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Jennifer (Bob) Keilitz and Jim Filipiak; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Mondro) Filipiak; grandchildren, Kyle, Lance and Alex; sister, Christine Niedzwiecki; brother, Tony Filipiak Jr; brother-in-law, Curtis Reynolds; several nieces and nephews; .
