GUILES, Eugene Lester – of Clio, MI, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Gary D. Butterfield officiating. Private interment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, in Eugene’s memory.
Eugene, known by family and friends as “Gene” or “Sonny”, was born in Flint, MI on March 7, 1949, son of the Lester and Mazallia (Duford) Guiles. He married Mary Ann Berry on January 25, 1969 and they had two children, Paul Guiles and Andrea Guiles Caister. After Mary Ann’s passing, Gene married Sherry Ann Smith, with her son Dave Stanley, on November 8, 1980. Gene was a great provider, hardworking man, and a “jack of all trades” kind of guy. He retired from General Motors after 39 years of service and was a member of the UAW. After retirement, Gene enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family: traveling to North Dakota and Tennessee to see his children and grandchildren. At home, he would go on field trips and follow his grandchildren's sporting events. Gene, a man of faith, who attended house church for many years, was a caregiver to both his wives and parents. On Sunday mornings, Gene would gather with his parents, sister, and brother to spend time with them. He was a kindhearted jokester who loved animals, and was known to bring in strays, and give them a forever home.
Gene is survived by his 3 children, Paul (Pam) Guiles, Dave Stanley, and Andrea (Doug) Caister; 7 grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mazallia Guiles; two wives, Mary Ann Guiles and Sherry Guiles.
