Dr. Jack W. Kribs of Flushing, age 85, passed away on November 14, 2021, at McLaren Hospital surrounded by family. Full of zest his whole life, he leaves behind a rich wake of those who love him.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1936, in Flint, Michigan to Drs. M. Wayne and Berna M. (Schmidt) Kribs, both chiropractors. He attended Northern High school and Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he began a life-long pursuit of learning how to help the body heal itself. He espoused the upper cervical Grostic method of chiropractic and dedicated his 60+ years of practice to helping others maximize their body’s healing potential through proper spinal alignment. An avid man of faith, he enjoyed sharing about the joy he found in God and the power of His Holy Spirit. He was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school and helped lead the Methodist Youth Fellowship for years. One summer he even inspired the congregation to collectively memorize the entire New Testament!
Certainly an optimist, he was a member of the Optimist Club his entire professional life. He enjoyed growing the most spectacular dahlias each summer. He loved playing tennis on a court he created by hand, and every winter he flooded and groomed an ice-skating pond in a back corner of his field for the family and neighborhood. Perhaps most of all, he loved that he could water ski on one foot while holding the rope with his other, even at 80!
Forever curious and always on the move, he embodied life lived to the full.
He loved his family and their friends, keeping his heart open to all. Even at work he might invite you to take a break to play ping pong or learn a tune on the piano. He was truly unique. He only understood honesty and only knew how to care and trust. Beloved to family, patients, and friends, he will be sorely missed.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sherryl, his siblings Gail, Susie and husband Dave, Connie and husband Jim, sister-in-law Jan, his children Stephanie and husband Steve, Dan and partner Amy, David, Sara, and his grandchildren Patrick and wife Sophia, Brendan and wife Gina, Zachary, Keegan, Matthew, Michael, Gabriel, Kirstin, his great granddaughter Zoramya, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, brother-in-law Byron, and his daughter Jennifer.
