GAWNE, Robert – of Burton, age 89, passed away on August 15, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 1-7 PM Monday, August 21, 2023 and also at 11 AM before the funeral on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, in Robert’s name.
Robert was born in Bay City, MI on November 16, 1933, son of the late John Gawne and Beth Griffin. He married Marlene Davis on December 25, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2023. Robert served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the USBA for over 40 years. Robert retired from GM after 35 years of service. He served as the President of the Arrowhead Chapter for IOF insurance investment group.
Robert is survived by his 4 children, Julie Kimball, Danny Gawne, David (Cynthia) Gawne and Cathy (Royce) Wolf; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jolenne (Kenny) Dean and Audrey (Neil) Lounsberry.
