DRWAL, DARCY – Of Grand Blanc, age 54, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his home.
Graveside service will be held at 1 pm Monday, April 28, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 East Hill Road, Grand Blanc.
A memorial service will held at 2 pm Monday April 28, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Memorial visitation will immediately follow the service until 5 pm Monday at the funeral home.
Darcy was born in Mountain View, California, on September 30, 1970, the son of Walter and Darlene (Nichols) Drwal.
Darcy grew up in Flint and finished school at Holly High School in 1989. Both before and after graduation, he was the property manager and head maintenance person of The Berridge Hotel, a family business in downtown Flint. He spent many long days and nights working with his father, doing everything from operating the 1940s-style switchboard to painting rooms. Even though he and his father differed greatly in their ideas about the business, they shared an unquestionable bond till his father’s last days.
Darcy, affectionately known as Uncle Jelly Bean by some of his nieces and nephews, was a gifted mechanic who could repair anything, from a vending machine to a 1990 Camaro. He enjoyed remodeling his home and collecting a large assortment of tools and gadgets that no one person could use in a lifetime. Through all of the ups and downs of life, he maintained an inexhaustible sense of humor.
Darcy was an avid watcher of news and politics, an opinionated movie critic, and a loyal fan of all things Star Trek. His time here was cut short, but we know he will go boldly where no one has gone before.
Thanks to his Aunt Shelley, who convinced him to participate in dialysis, (and gave us many more years with Darcy), to Sue and the staff of Fresenius (who cared for and helped him throughout his last years), to aunt Char and Uncle Dave (who frequently assisted him and invited him to holidays), and to his loving mother, Darlene and her husband Don, who supported him through difficult times.
Surviving are mother, Darlene (Donald) Drwal-Byers;
Siblings, Melody (David) Giambra, Jason (Kariann) Drwal; nieces and nephews: Brandi, Jonathan, Alexandria, Luke, and Elise.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter, and brother, Walter, and nephew, Nickolas Drwal.
