Mr. Richard (Rich) Floyde Osentoski, 81, died after a long illness with Compassus Hospice in his home on Monday, September 20, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born in Huron County to the late Louis and Irene (Briolat) Osentoski. He was a graduate from Ubly High School, Class of 1958. He married Jane Peters on November 7, 1959. Rich farmed until moving to Bay City in 1986, where he attended Saginaw Valley State University. He graduated in 1991 with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for the State of Michigan as a Rehab Engineer. Because of his farming background he worked with many disabled farmers and successfully got them back to farming again. He later worked at the Department of Environmental Quality in Bay City until he retired. Rich loved working and visiting with people, bowling, snowmobiling, dancing the polka’s all night, playing Euchre with his dear friends and most of all being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane, his children; Kathi (Joe) Groves-Bay City, Ann (Terry) Briggs-Williamston, daughter-in-law, Debbie Osentoski-Monroe. Grandchildren; Sarah (Andrew) Vogel-Ohio, Andrew (Liana) Osentoski-California, Stephen (Tracey) Osentoski-Troy-, Kyle (Alyssa) Briggs-Lansing, and Troy Briggs-Lansing. Great-grandchildren; Elodie, Chloe and Leo Vogel. Sister, Janet Romero-Brighton, brothers; Jim (Rita) Osentoski-Ubly, Tom (Marilyn) Osentoski-Davison, Dan Osentoski-Alaska, Jerry (Marlene) Osentoski-Texas and Brian Osentoski-Utah, sisters-in-law; Doreen Osentoski-Metamora, Diane Osentoski- Metamora and Sharon Osentoski, Bad Axe. Janes family Jim (Marilyn) Peters, Al (Patti) Peters, Ken (Patty) Peters, Brian (Pam) Peters, Marlene Peters, Pat Peters, Luci (Martin) Kubacki, Emilie (Jim) Heleski, and Aleta Mattison. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Dennis Osentoski (10/15/2011), Infant sister, Nancy Jean Osentoski. Brothers, Hank, Ken and Chuck Osentoski. Father and mother-in-law; Roy and Clara Peters, brothers-in-law, Bill and Dan Peters.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena - St. Vincent De Paul with Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly presiding. Visitation will be at St. Catherine of Siena - St. Vincent De Paul from 10:00 am until the time of Service. Inurnment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Ubly, Michigan. Per the family wishes, masks are required at the Service.
