Wayne H. Hammerberg age 71 of Mt. Morris, MI., with heavy hearts the family announces his passing on April 7, 2018. Service pending. Wayne was born in Detroit, MI on November 16, 1946, the son of Harold and Mary Lou Hammerberg. Wayne volunteered with the Genesee County Sheriff's Dept., was an active member and a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, enjoyed karaoke and singing, he was very good at dancing, an avid bowler, bowling on 3 different league's; and then enjoying his after dinner drinks, loved hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family; he had a passion for Standard Bred horses and he raced them in Swartz Creek, Detroit, Jackson and Saginaw; and owned a 50 acre farm on Grand Blanc Rd, where he stabled race horses. He also liked to have his TV on 24 hours a day with Michigan Outdoors playing or John Wayne movies. Wayne worked as a prison guard in a federal prison in NC after he retired from the Flint Board of Education in 2002. Wayne is survived by his wife Lynn of 33 years, children Michael, Tracy, Cristina, Anthony (Leeann) and Donald, mother Mary Lou, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Betty Jo (Ken) Parker, Barbara Boyer, Nancy (Dennis) Hill and 1 brother Ken Hammerberg. Wayne was preceded in death by his father Harold, son Sean Morley and sister-in-law Denice Hammerberg. Rest in peace Wayne, may eternal peace be yours. He is with his maker, with our family and friends, they're waiting for us and we'll all dance again. |
