Baker, Marlene Maxfield (Rabidoux) – Flint, MI, age 93, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Woodhaven Court Apts in Flint Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 12-1 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or Outreach East, in Marlene’s memory.
Marlene was born on July 18, 1931, in Flint, MI, to the late Lorayne and Doris (McPhee) Rabidoux. She married Harry P. Baker on February 7, 2004, and shared eighteen wonderful years together until his passing on December 8, 2022. Marlene graduated from St. Matthew High School in 1949. She attended Mott Community College and attained a Nursing Home Administrator Certification from MSU. Her first early employment was a Medical Secretary, but she is better known as the first Saleslady for Tom Gleason Volkswagen. Her last career was as the Administrator for Lafeyette Park Assisted Living in downtown Flint where she cared for 45 residents. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Marlene loved “people”, her church family, decorating, sewing and lots of laughter. She cherished her time with her dear husband, family and her dear personal shopper, Mary (Hal) Richards.
Marlene is survived by her son, Marty (Annette) Jarboe; brother, Ray (Melissa) Rabidoux; grandson, Michael Jarboe (Crystal Jones); two great-granddaughters, Hudsyn and Bostyn. Her extended family includes stepchildren, Christopher (Shannon Foxley) Baker and Cathleen (Rob Meyers) Rehfeld, Jack (deceased) (Kathy) Maxfield Jr. Surviving also are step-grandchildren, Matthew (Vanessa) Maxfield and Philip (Aubrey) Maxfield and their mother, Diane (Dan) Caruk; step-grandchildren, Forrest and Skye Foxley Baker; step-great-grandchildren, Gage, Kash and Cru Maxfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorayne and Doris Rabidoux; husband, Harry P. Baker; brother, Ken Rabidoux; second husband, Leslie “Jack” Maxfield and her best friend, Marion Hartl. There are many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends who have made her life a joy.
A special thanks goes to Mary Richards, Mary Ellen Smith and Kay Hartl for their dedicated companionship in her later years.
