ROOT, Mary F. - Of Owosso, age 82, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Welcome Home Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be held 12 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 10th at the funeral home and 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
Mary was born in Smithville, Arkansas on August 6, 1936, the daughter of Clyde and Emma Foley. She graduated from Strawberry High School, Class of 1953. She married Gerald Root in Flint on November 25, 1954. Mary had been employed by Flint Box Makers for 18 years and 9 years for Game Tracker. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and growing flowers.
Surviving are children, Greg (Vera) Root of Chesaning, Rhonda Atwell of Clio, Tim (Debby) Root of Swartz Creek, Karen (Tim) Corey of Ovid;
daughter-in-law, Amanda Root of Owosso;
11 grandchildren, Aaron (Ashlee) Root, Brandan (Ashley) Atwell, Tiffany Root, Amanda (Chris) Morse, Adam (Molly) Root, Trisha Atwell, Steffany (Chris) Miles, Ashley (Erik) Kuhl, Taylor Root (Tyler Prost), Isabel Root and Harper Root;
9 great-grandchildren, Ryder, Grayson, Leighton, Mila, Blaine, Whitney, Nora, Skylar and Asher;
many nieces and nephews;
and two special sisters-in-law, Sharon Foley and Lois Bohl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald, after nearly 34 years of marriage, son Daryl (DJ), brothers and sisters, Joyce Hill, Bill (W.H.), Charles, Leon, Harold and Shirley Kelley.
