GARCIA, Socorro Mary (Quintana) – of Lapeer, MI, age 74, passed away April 23, 2021 at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Road, Flint, MI 48505; Fr. Paul Donnelly celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Socorro’s memory.
Socorro was born in Jaral del Progreso, GTO, Mexico on April 22, 1947, daughter of the late Jesus and Juanita (Perez) Quintana. She married Melquiades “Mickey” Garcia on March 26, 1971 in Pontiac, MI. Socorro retired as the head cook from Lapeer Community Schools. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Socorro was a gifted cook, sharing her talents with her family and friends. She also loved to sew and enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Texas.
Socorro is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mickey Garcia; daughter, Estee Garcia; brother, Alfredo Quintana; sister, Ester (Joseph) Andrade; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Juanita Quintana and her brother, Vince Quintana.
