PURMAN, Barbara Ann – Of Linden, age 74, died Monday, January 16, 2023 at Courtyard Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 402 South Ballenger Highway, Flint.
Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Children’s Museum or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10a.m. at church until the time of the service.
Barbara was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 11, 1948, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Honeywell) Borchard. On July 26, 1969 she married Tim Purman in Saginaw, Michigan. She earned her undergrad in early elementary education at Central Michigan University. Barbara earned her Master’s Degrees from both Oakland University and Eastern University. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. She taught special education for almost 30 years. After years of teaching, Barbara loved every child for whom they were. Her hobbies included quilting, swimming, kayaking, traveling, and enjoying the lake house on Coldwater Lake. Most of all she loved spending time with family.
Surviving are her husband, Tim;
children, T. Garrett (Jennifer) and Ben (Correy);
5 grandchildren, Jacob, Trevor, Theresa, Jason and Claire;
siblings, Fred Lee (Joyce) Borchard, James (Mary Jane) Borchard and Sara (Steve) Borchard;
brother and sister-in-law, Gary (Renee) Purman;
many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Frederick Reid Borchard and niece, Jennifer Borchard; parents-in–law, Edward and Florence Purman.
