LONG, Robert A. – of Clio, age 81. Died on Friday, December 4, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, December 10, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2PM until 8PM, and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Robert was born February 10, 1940, in Flint, Michigan, to the late James and Rema (Kelly) Long. He married Ethel Long on December 16, 1961, and they enjoyed 56 years together before she preceded him in death on March 19, 2018. Mr. Long is a U.S. Army Veteran. Robert was a pipefitter at General Motors – Fisher Body Coldwater for over 31 years before retiring in 1992. He attended Millington Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, making maple syrup, and picking berries to make jams and jellies. Above all, family was the most important to Robert. He loved taking his 5 grandchildren up north to Sac Bay in the U.P. and spending quality time with them.
Surviving are: Children, Robert (Lisa) Long, William (Tammy) Long; Grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Long, Jessica Long, Erika (Brian) Roop, Courtney (Geoff) Miller, and Kyle (Mary) Long; 8 great grandchildren; Brother, Larry; Sisters: Nancy, and Jeanne.
