SCHELSKE, Donald – of Davison, MI, age 66, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Ben Kirkman of the River Church Davison and Pastor Jim Olah co-officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Friday, October 7, 2022 and 10 AM until time of service on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The River Church, 8393 E. Holly Road, Holly, MI 48442-8819.
Donald was born in Pontiac, MI on February 4, 1956, son of Melvin Leroy Schelske and Mary Joan Ballard. He married Nancy Smith on May 26,1984 at First Baptist Church in Wheaton, IL. Don was instrumental in his service for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Don loved music, writing, singing, leading and teaching. While at Calvary Baptist Church, he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Awana JV Leader, Worship Director, Choir Director, and also played his Cornet. While at Life Fellowship Chapel he was and Elder, and was part of the worship team. He worked for the Davison Index as Editor for many years and most recently at Davenport University as Campus Academic Coordinator and an Adjunct Instructor. He also was a Red Cross Instructor, teaching first aid and CPR classes for many years. Most recent, Don contributed to a devotional book for the River Church.
Don is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Doug Schelske; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Joan Ballard; father, Melvin Leroy; brothers, Dean, Darrell and Dale; sisters, Denise and Deanna.
