DeLAND, Robert Ellis "Bob" - Age 86, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, May 21, 2022. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettel officiating (A live stream of the service will be available on Bob's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Bob was born November 2, 1935 and raised in Saginaw, the son of Robert William and Marjorie Loretta (Bartlett) DeLand. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1954. He married Judy Ann Behnke May 6, 1976 in Swartz Creek. Bob had resided in Grand Blanc for the past 12 years after relocating from Flint. Bob retired from the Flint Journal as a Copy Editor after 40 years of service. Music was a lifelong passion of Bob’s and he cherished singing and playing rhythm and bass guitar with many beloved musician friends throughout the years. He also enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and University of Michigan football, and he could always be counted on to share a good story.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 46 years, Judy; son, Adam Robert DeLand (Jim Johnson) of Brentwood, TN; daughter, Jacquelyn Kristi DeLand of Olivehurst, CA; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marjorie DeLand.
