Thomas W. Dowell age 76 of Royal Oak, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at My Michigan Medical Center in Saginaw. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Pastor John Walworth will be officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Thomas Wayne Dowell was born on June 30, 1949 in Durand, a son of Fredrick and Marjorie (Kennedy) Dowell. He graduated Durand High School in 1967. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served one year in Vietnam. Thomas enjoyed Detroit sports, supported M.S.U. sports and loved to travel. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad for 39 years.
Thomas is survived by his sister, Janet (Jack) VanRiper; nieces, Janie Davis and Tracy (Jeff) Lince; several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Marjorie Dowell, and brother, Tim Dowell.
