David passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, in his home surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 61 years. David Brian Tierney was born on July 29, 1957, in Flint, to the late Robert and Ruth (Ratza) Tierney. David married Barbara Ann Shaver on July 14, 1990, in Saginaw, where she survives him. David had worked at Eaton, then was employed as a merchandiser for the Pepsico Co. David enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing with his grandchildren, traveling, and tinkering with stock cars and model trains. He also enjoyed checking out older cars and taking car rides in the country with his wife. He had been a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Surviving besides his wife, Barbara are their two children, son David Tierney, daughter Angela Tierney and son-in-law Brett Gustavison; his grandsons, Grayson and Waylin Gustavison, whom he loved dearly; his sisters Beverly (Leonard) Dronko, Dawn Tonchen, and his brother Dennis Tierney; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; several extended family members and dear friends. David was also predeceased by his siblings, Bobby, Denise and Terry Tierney.
David’s funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019, held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court St., Saginaw. The Rev. James Krueger will officiate with the committal and burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service.
