Richard “Dick” Howald, of Flushing, Michigan, age 81, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at Rossell Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Deacon Dave Jensen will officiate and Neal Howald will be presenting the eulogy. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Flushing Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North End Soup Kitchen.
Dick was born in Flint, Michigan on December 2, 1941, to Charles and Margaret (Thomas) Howald. He married Donna Duff at Trinity Episcopal Church in Flushing on July 14, 1961. She preceded him in death in 2015. Dick was a crane operator with General Motors for 44 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. Dick was a talented marksman who belonged to many gun clubs and enjoyed shooting with family and friends. He was a proud member and usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church. He loved his dogs.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Dale) Charter and Renee (Brian) Kleinow; grandchildren, Zachary Charter, Kaitlyn Kleinow, and Kayla Kleinow; sister, Karen (Larry) Winterlee; nieces and nephews, Kim, Robert (Julie), Tami (Matt), and Jennifer (Tony); many great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Diane Trinkle; and his dog, Bud. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Donna Howald; brother, George Howald; and his parents. |
