Barb was born in Flint, MI on April 18, 1933, daughter of the late John and Bessie (Harvey) Sessink. A blind date in 1949 kicked off a 71-year adventure with the love of her life, Vernon Mannor, when they were married on December 29, 1951 in Flint, MI. Raising four children with Vern, Barb created a warm and loving home that would serve for decades as the backdrop for birthday parties, Fourth of July cookouts, grandchildren splashing in the pool, and Christmas morning breakfasts - where everyone would await her not-quite-done-yet-perfect pecan sticky buns. Barb’s loved ones will cherish memories of her exuberance for the holidays and celebrations, especially her prolific candy making which included just about every dipped chocolate treat you can think of (customized to each child or grandchild’s liking). Barb was also an avid traveler, opting for the warm Florida sun in Punta Gorda with family and friends over the bitter Michigan winters for over 25 years. Her favorite travel experiences included camping with the Kearsley Campers and Jobs Daughters.
Barb was known throughout her life for her service to the Lord, her family, and her community. She could often be found in a church basement preparing hot coffee and donuts for parishioners, rooting for her grandchildren at athletic events (snacks in tow), or baking a plate of brownies for a local community fundraiser. Barb devoted her time and energies to the Children’s Miracle Network, local Boy Scout troops, and other local causes. She was also a member of Bethany and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Churches and Heritage United Church of Christ. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Barb retired from AC Spark Plug in 1989 after 27 years of employment.
Barb leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Vernon Mannor; her 4 children, Julie Rencsak, Kevin Mannor (Kimberly), Linda Bredernitz and Teresa Brown (Matthew); 8 grandchildren, Troy Brown (Kristy), Kerrie Mannor (Joe Rebone), Kelsay Mannor, Kara Mannor, Katherine Brown (Jersey), Ian Renscak, Christopher Bredernitz and Quin Renscak (Autumn Waters); 1 great-grandson, Kolin Brown; 3 additional great-grandchildren, Raylee, Dylan and Piper; sister, Shirley Waddington (James); many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Sessink; 2 brothers; 2 sisters and son-in-law, Tom Rencsak.
