Monroe, Richard – of Montrose, age 92, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at McLaren Flint. Funeral Services will be held 2PM Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Burial will follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 12PM until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future destinations.
Richard was born August 23, 1929, to the late Frank and Thelma (Loveland) Monroe. On March 4, 1950, Richard married the love of his life Doris Patterson. They shared 72 wonderful years together. Richard enjoyed playing horseshoes very much. When he wasn’t playing horseshoes he was hunting, fishing, camping, or woodworking in his spare time. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife of 72 years, Doris Monroe; Children: Susan (Lawerce) Dinsmore, Larry (Darnise) Monroe, Mary Lou (Mike) Mahan; Grandchildren: Tom (Kara) Ward, Amy (Rick) Savage, Heather (Chris Walker) Monroe, Lorie Curtis, Larry Monroe II, Terri Dinsmore, Tammy (Anson) Beardsley. 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great great- grandchildren and Brother: Loyal Monroe; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters: Ruth Rice, Pearl Duncan; Brothers: Robert Monroe, Ervin Monroe.
