ADKISSON, BILLY WAYNE – Of Flint, age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at his residence.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Bristol Road Church of Christ, G1315 West Bristol Road, Flint, with Rigel Dawson officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation also from 10:00am on Monday at church until the time of the service.
Billy was born in Decaturville, Tennessee on May 29, 1931, the son of the late Albert and Estella (Attaway) Adkisson. He retired from General Motors in Tool and Die and served as Vice President of the UAW Local #581. Billy’s hobbies included rebuilding tractors and gardening.
Surviving are children, Karon (David) Hunt of Grand Blanc,
Douglas (Susan) Adkisson of Columbia, TN,
Rebecca (Brian) Hilgers of San Diego, CA and
Russell (Tammy) Adkisson of Butler, PA;
grandchildren, Janet (Nick) McVannel,
Philip Hunt,
Eric Adkisson,
Darci (David) Morris,
Brielle Hilgers, and
Kristina and Stephanie Adkisson;
great-grandchildren, Jacob and Bryan McVannel, Ameila and Sophia Morris;
and sister, Joyce (Jim) Roush.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Delores Adkisson and brothers, James Thomas Adkisson and Lewis Adkisson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bristol Road Church of Christ or Loving Angels Home Healthcare.
