Sidney "Bill" W. Bohman age 80 of Durand, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home. A funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Durand Global Methodist Church. Pastor John Walworth will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Arrangements are being handled by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel.
Sidney William Bohman was born July 24, 1944 in Flint, MI a son of Sidney Carl (Betty Burrows) Bohman. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. On June 18, 1971 Bill married Brenda Norton. He was a member of the F.O.P. Lodge 137, the Durand Eagles, and a life member of the Durand VFW Post 2272. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, gardening, cooking, making his own wine, playing cards with friends and spending time with his family. Bill received the Liberty Bell Award in 1998. Prior to his retirement, Bill was a Police Chief in Bancroft in the early 70's. He retired from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department after 30 years of service in law enforcement.
Bill is survived by his wife, Brenda Bohman; children, Ryan Bohman and Kelly (Tom) Simmons; grandchildren, Caitlin Simmons and John Simmons; sisters, Sharon (Joe) Cooney and Karen (Brandon Kett) Allen; nephew, Craig Ackerman; cousin, Scott Shelp; stepbrothers, Paul Forman and Kyle Forman; many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Betty Bohman; stepmother, Inez Bohman; and brother, Dennis Bohman.
