OCKERMAN, Dale Devere – of Davison, age 96, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass and inurnment will take place in St. John Catholic Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive visitors 1-7 PM, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Devonshire Retirement Village of Lapeer, or The Medical Team.
Dale was born in Flint, MI on April 25, 1929, son of the late Martin and Margaret (Smith) Ockerman. He married the love of his life, Mary Len Lash on August 28, 1948, and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2014. Dale was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and prior to COVID, was involved with the funeral luncheon ministry. Dale retired from GM Security after 30 years of service.
Dale is survived by his seven children: Debra (Dave) Palma, Kendra (Tom) Goergen, Craig (Michelle) Ockerman, Doug (Marsha) Ockerman, Phil (Carrie) Ockerman, Carrie (Chuck) Weidenhammer, Lori (Matt) McKay; 18 grandchildren: Kristen (Michael) Ovadek, Kimberly (Jay) Gardiner, Kellie (Reno) Ybarra, Jennifer (Shannon) Wade, Eric (Alissa) Goergen, Jaime Ockerman, Amy (Brent) Medley, Nicole (Eric) Morse, Matthew (Mollie) Ockerman, Emily (Andrew) Skowronski, Katie (Monet) Shimmons, Caron (Joel) Weidman, Jeffery (Naomi) Ockerman, Steven (Elen) Ockerman, Nicholas (Liz) Weidenhammer, Kyle (Angie) Weidenhammer, Megan Brooks (Christopher Pace) and Brent (Megan) McKay; 33 great-grandchildren, Michael Ovadek II, Parker Ovadek (Abbie Watchorn), Natalie Ovadek (Collin Webster), Cole and Barrette Gardiner, Tyler (Mikayla) Ybarra, Mallorie Ybarra (Riley Henderson), Madyson Ybarra, Timothy Ybarra, Caitlin and Ian Wade, Everett and Nora Goergen, Cameron, Spencer, Isaac, and Emerson Morse, Noah, Chloe, and Luke Ockerman, Ava Medley, Grant Mitchell, Carolina and Jeffrey Ockerman, Ryker Ockerman, Hannah, Alex, Lydia and Easton Weidenhammer, Bryar and Brynlee Brooks, Finley McKay, and Zoe Mrazek; one great-great-grandchild, Oliver Ybarra. Dale also leaves behind his best friend of 70+ years, Kelly DeNicolo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Len; parents, Martin and Margaret; brother, Robert; mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Dorothy Lash; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Evelyn Lash.
Dale’s family would like to give a huge thank you to the caregivers and staff at Devonshire Retirement Village (it would take a whole page to name them individually), the hospice team of the Medical Team who took wonderful care of our dad for the past year and a half, Ashley, Sarah, Jennifer, Emile, A’Marie, Chaplain Goodie, and Charles.
