Christopher Gust Buterakos, 56, US Navy Veteran, of Surprise, AZ, formerly of Flushing, MI, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2024. Chris was born in Flint, MI the son of Gust George and Delrene M. Buterakos, and was raised in Flushing, MI.
Chris graduated from Flushing High School in Flushing, Michigan, and attended the University of Michigan in Flint, MI. After school Chris worked two summers on Mackinac Island. He later completed his Naval training at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago and served for four years in the US Navy. After moving to Arizona, Chris worked as a Detention Officer for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and was currently working as a Security Officer. He was a lifelong active member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod Church. He was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan and loved the University of Michigan Athletics. Chris had a warm, generous spirit and kind heart which will be deeply missed.
Chris is survived by his mother, Delrene M. (nee Smeby) Buterakos; his brother, Todd (Pamela) Buterakos; his nephews, Ryan and Kyle Livingston; his uncle, Larry (Linda) Smeby, and several cousins and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Gust George Buterakos.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held Sunday, Oct. 27 1:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church 2526 Corunna Rd. Flint, MI 48503. |
